And God said to him, «From every tree in the garden you may eat; but you shall not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for in the day you eat from it you will surely die.»

The serpent, who was the most cunning of all the animals of the field that God had created, said to the woman: «You will by no means die… you will be like gods, knowing good and evil.»

And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, she took some of its fruit and ate, and also gave it to her husband.
